Fort McDowell, Arizona

Set in the desert with spectacular views of the McDowell Mountains, Red Mountain, Four Peaks and the Superstitions you really do feel like you are in the middle of nowhere yet WeKoPa Golf Club is less than thirty minutes drive from Downtown Scottsdale.

WeKoPa in the Yavapai language means ‘Four Peaks’, named after the nearby snow covered peaks of the Matazal Mountains.

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club lies on Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation land that will never be commercially developed so you will find no houses on the courses, just two spectacular golf courses winding through the desert landscape with uninterrupted views of the distant mountain ranges.

WeKoPa Cholla, along with it’s sister course Saguaro, have won a number of awards and accolades. Most recent are Golf Magazine listed Cholla as No. 46 in its ranking of the “Golf’s Top 100 You Can Play” for 2016/2017. Golfweek bestowed Cholla with three “Golfweek’s Best” honors: 20th in 2016 Casino Courses ranking; No. 66 in the list of the Resort Courses for 2017; and 9th in the 2016 State-by-State Courses You Can Play in Arizona ranking.

Situated in the beautiful Fountain Hills area, a few minutes east of North Scottsdale is SunRidge Canyon Golf Club. A challenging golf course in a breathtaking setting, SunRidge Canyon is fast becoming one of our favourite courses in Arizona.

SunRidge Canyon has won many accolades including GolfWeek Best Courses in Arizona: 2012-2018, GOLF Magazine/GOLF.com Best Public Courses in Arizona: 2012 – 2018, Best of Phoenix 2016 by The Phoenix New Times, Golf World Top 50 Public Courses in the Country Readers Choice Awards, Hosted 2014 PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada & 1997 USGA Team Championship.

Carefree, AZ

The Boulders South course is one of two 18 hole championship courses at the spectacular 5 star Boulders Resort & Spa so expect top class facilities and service on your arrival.

A feature of the South Course in particular is the backdrop of magnificent pre-historic boulder formations that give the resort it’s name.

The Boulders Club is a semi-private country club for members, resort guests, and daily fee players. Only one of the two 18 hole layouts is available for outside play on any given day so we cannot always guarantee which course you will play until you book.

The South course, featured in this review, is a 6,726 yard, par 71 layout. For the record, the North is 6,811 yards long, par 72. Both courses were designed by Jay Morrish.
